With over a decade of experience working holistically with people in services, Louise is passionate about making wellness treatments accessible to all, especially those facing mental health difficulties, trauma, and addiction. Her approach is rooted in kindness, care, and a deep understanding of the human experience.

Community acupuncture (also known as multibed clinics) are widely used in the Far East, however, they're a relatively new concept in the West. The Dragon Clinic was set up in 2004 in Brighton and was the first of its kind in the U.K. This approach has been growing in popularity ever since, commonly seen in bigger cities. 

This approach helps reduce treatment costs and prioritises the whole community by making treatments affordable and accessible. Treating more than one person at a time allows the practitioner to keep treatment costs low. This allows more people to access holistic health care and to do this more frequently, which in turn helps people feel better and have a better experience in the world.  

I want as many people as possible to be able to access treatment for as long as they need. To that end, Iyashi Wellbeing will be using a sliding scale model: pay what you can afford. 

The NADA protocol, initially used for drug and alcohol detoxification, has been found to be beneficial for supporting the holistic health care of:

- Post-traumatic stress 
- General stress
- Trauma recovery in communities following major catastrophes
- Mental health
- Anxiety management and panic disorder
- Aiding recovery from some prescribed medication dependency
- Promotes relaxation in young people with behavioural disorders

- Ameliorating side effects from drug treatment in cancer, HEP C, HIV/AIDS
- Helps the Immune system
- The protocol is known to have a calming effect on the central nervous system.


A brief history of NADA:

Acupuncture used in the treatment of addiction is a recent development in the history of this ancient art. Asian cultures have placed needles in precise locations on the body to relieve pain and
treat disease. Only since 1973, when Hong Kong neurosurgeon H L Wen discovered that acupuncture could alleviate the symptoms of withdrawal, has this method been used for detoxification and relapse prevention.

In 1985, the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA U.S.) was established by Dr. Michael Smith, Director of the Lincoln Recovery Centre, New York, to promote education and training of substance misuse counsellors in the NADA five-point protocol.

In 1988, the NADA five-point protocol was introduced into the United Kingdom by John Tindall (NADA GB Chairperson) and in 1990, he founded NADA – UK, a registered Charity.

There are approximately 1,700 NADA practitioners working in over 500 treatment settings throughout Britain.

These days, the NADA-style treatment is used to treat much broader fields than addiction and substance misuse.
